#NationalOrganizingWeek is officially behind us for 2019.

Thank you to everyone who followed along on Instagram last week as I shared my favorite tips and tricks for creating a more organized and clutter-free life. For those of you who don’t follow me on Instagram, get on it! (@meredithhaucklifecoach). For those of you who do follow me already, thank you!

Either way, here’s a quick wrap up of all of the tips in one place.

Jewelry Organizing – I like to store my jewelry in these awesome and inexpensive tackle boxes (Walmart).  You can create the slots you need for the jewelry you have.  They also stack easy and if they tip over, your jewelry stays in place.  I have one box for silver jewelry, one box for gold jewelry, one box for colorful jewelry, and one box for stud earrings.

Dealing with “Just-in-Case” Items – One of my favorite clutter clearing tips is from The Minimalists – if you don’t use it regularly and can replace it for under $20 and within 20 minutes, get rid of it!  We tend to hang on to stuff we might need in the future. Try evaluating items with this framework and see what else you can move out of your house!

Power Hour! – I use a weekly power hour to manage those random tasks that pop up during the week.  Check out my blog post on how to develop your own power hour!

Fight Clutter with Convenience – if we make something too hard, we won’t do it.  That’s why I’m always looking for ways to make the systems in my life more convenient.  Two examples I shared were putting trash cans and scissors all over my life. I have scissors in every room of my house – and my car! – so that I can always find a pair when I need them.  I also have trash cans all over – not only in the usual places, but also in my closet and my car. I started to pay attention to where I was creating little piles of trash and then added a container to that space.  What easy items can you add to your life to create more convenience?

Outer Order, Inner Calm – This is my FAVORITE organizing mantra from Gretchen Rubin.  I say it all the time to motivate myself to clean up… especially when I’m having trouble focusing or thinking.  She also recently released a book with this same title (Amazon).
